Costs
The currency in Uganda is the Uganda shilling and 1 USD fetches roughly around 1600 Uganda shillings. Uagandan currency is a stable one and the rate doesn't change much on a daily basis. Tourists should carry a largely traveler's checks and remaining in USD. Money can be exchanged in forex bureaus found at the border posts and at most major cities.
The average room prices per day for budget travelers are 5 – 20 USD, which go to 40 – 50 USD for the higher end traveler. Similarly, food ranges from a low of 2 – 8 USD and goes to a higher end of 10 – 15 USD.
Best time to visit
The dry season is the best to visit Uganda and ranges between December to late February. The next best time to visit is between June to September. Though one can visit at other times of the year, mountain hiking, trekking and gorilla tracking can't be done outside of the dry months.
Tourists should bring along with them a lot of light clothing, as the day temperatures tend to get quite warm. For people who plan to go trekking on the mountains light sweaters should also be packed. Apart from this suntan, sunglasses, hats, cameras and waterproof jackets would also be helpful.
You should bring along your valid passport with you and based on the visa requirement, if needed, a visa can be purchased on the spot.
